The Stolen Throne by Abigail Owen is an exception to my normal. It’s just not deep enough, engrossing enough, sexy enough, violent enough…well, you get the drift. Many times I cannot give them a five star rating, through no fault of the author or the story. I read a lot of teen and young adult novels. Kellerica did a great job on the maps of Nova. Once I read that someone saw a lobster on the pretty cover of The Stolen Throne, I couldn’t stop looking at it. There is no shortage of action and danger. Each book has grown in depth and detail, from the world building to the characters growth. I am an avid fan of Abigail Owen’s and will read anything she writes! That being said, The Stolen Throne, Book 2 in the Dominion series, is even better than The Liar’s Crown. ![]() ![]() ![]() The narrator of the story, Colquitt Kennedy, introduces us first to the architect: Kim Dougherty, a young and ambitious man who puts his literal heart and soul into this modern creation that is built on the last remaining natural space of a lovely Southern neighborhood populated with upper-income white folks. Throughout the book the mind wonders - is it the house itself that harbors this evil force, the wickedness of the people who live in it, or the strange and enigmatic architect who created it? What makes this particular story so chilling and so different from the usual “things that go bump in the night” stories is the focus on an invisible force that affects the behavior of all who dare enter, and live in, the house. ![]() I love a good haunted house story, and popular Southern novelist Anne Rivers Siddons offers up one truly haunting haunted house in The House Next Door. ![]() ![]() ![]() My only negative with this book would be that during the hunt I felt like they would either find the treasures to slowly or too fast. I got easily picture them in my head and couldn't wait to read what would happen next with them. I really enjoyed the characters too and thought they were really well written. ![]() After growing up believing that fairies were good, this was a welcoming change. It was the first time I had read a book about fairies and I loved the way the author portrays them as evil, or at the very least mischievous. ![]() But I was too far in by then to stop reading it and besides I didn't have access to the first one.īut that enough about my stupidity.lets get to the book! ![]() And surprise surprise it was! That was round about when I found out it was a sequel. I will admit at some points I found myself wondering if I was a missing something but I thought maybe it would be revealed later on in the book. (I know, I know, I can be a moron sometimes!) Someone randomly lent it to me and I always being keen for a good fantasy novel just started reading it. Let me just start off by saying that I had no idea that this a second book. ![]() ![]() He speaks softly and intently, emphasizing some points by swinging, one of his big hands through the air or knitting the bushy eyebrows that overhang his deep-set eyes. ![]() Le Carre is lanky, large-limbed, warmly handsome, dignified and gentle-looking. ![]() More recently, in a rare television appearance from the study of his home near the edge of spacious Hampstead Heath in north London, Le Carre talked eagerly and with evident respect and affection about Graham Greene, one of his favorite writers and greatest influences. Like his written prose, his spoken words were carefully chosen, spare and dispasionate, even then conveying apparently strong feelings. In question-and-answer formats, broadcast and published verbatim, without embellishment or interpretation, Le Carre touched on his difficult childhood, class-conscious education, intelligence work in the British army and truncated diplomatic career, from which sprang the chillingly credible plots and shifting reality of his spy mysteries and their melancholy overtones of betrayal, moral ambiguity and societal decay. ![]() John le Carre has gone underground again, leaving a bare handful of clues gathered in futile efforts to flush him out.Īmong them are transcripts of a few carefully controlled interviews for British radio and newspapers after publican of his most recent spy novel, "Smiley's People," and the TV dramatization of "Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy." ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s been four years since the night she watched her mother drown during an unforgiving storm. It’s a book set around traders on the sea but it felt a lot more like a pirate story to me, with certain crews causing problems for others and the world being pretty dangerous too. ![]() I mentioned last month that I was keen to catch up on books I’d missed out on that were released in 2020, and Fable was right at the top of my list! ![]() ![]() ![]() Please be aware that the delivery time frame may vary according to the area of delivery and due to various reasons, the delivery may take longer than the original estimated timeframe. Woodward does not accept Trump's word salads as answers. ![]() As anyone who has heard Trump speak can attest, the former president can talk around a subject with the best of them, but this work puts that skill to the test. "This audiobook is a collection of interviews conducted by WASHINGTON POST journalist Bob Woodward with Donald Trump throughout the past decade. *Including all 27 letters between President Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un The Woodward interviews take a reader to a reporter’s laboratory meticulously examining the Trump presidency like never before-spellbinding and devastating. How did he do the first time? This is the authentic answer, laying bare his repeated failures, obsessions, and grievances. The Trump Tapes explodes with the exclusive, inside story of Trump’s performance as president-in his own words as he is questioned, even interrogated by Woodward, on the president’s key responsibilities from managing foreign relations to crisis management of the coronavirus pandemic.
